‘Roots’ aims to facilitate a legal intervention in the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar, Rajasthan where local communities, mainly Gujjars are facing relocation due to the land being categorized as a “critical tiger habitat” under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. Through field work and ethnographic research, we attempt to understand the scope for the implementation of laws such as the Forest Rights Act (2008) and Biodiversity Act (2002) in the Sariska Tiger Reserve.
